Setting Up the SMP Slide

Phase 1. Remove all wheels and Shock Absorbers. Place your car on a Control Flat Surface such as the HUDY 10 8200 and the HUDY special graduated Decal Sheet 10 8210. Sit the chassis on the HUDY 10 7701 Gauge Blocks. Now, measure the height from the top of the front and rear wheel axles to the control flat surface. The measurement required (minus the thickness of the gauge blocks) is 31mm on the front and 33mm on the rear. This measurement is achieved by adjusting the Allen screw, which is located in the front and rear bumpers. You must now balance the two sides to achieve the same measurement. Adjusting the self-centering mounting pin on the anti-roll bars does this.

Phase 2. Fit a set of new SMP wheel rims. Remove the gauge blocks and allow the chassis to sit flat on the control flat surface. You must ensure that the centre of the chassis is on the zero of the control flat surface. The front track width is between 253mm and 256mm. The rear track width is between 262mm and 266mm. The track width is determined by a number of things such as the race track, the environmental conditions and the bodyshell being used.

Phase 3. Remove the four wheel rims. Refit all of the shock absorbers. Attach the HUDY 108200 Set Up Jig. Make the following adjustments as a base setting for the car.
a) Set the front anti-roll bar in the vertical position (hard)
b) Set the rear anti-roll bar in the horizontal position (soft)
c) Set the rear toe-in at 2.5 Degrees
d) Set the rear camber at -2.5 Degrees
e) Set the front toe-out at 0 - 1.0 Degrees
f) Set the front camber at -1.5 Degrees

Phase 4. Remove the Jig and fit a newly trued set of front and rear tires measuring 69/70.00mm front and 76/77.00mm Rear. Set the car ride height by adjusting the shock absorber coil over springs to achieve a ride height of 10.00mm front and 11.00 rear (this measurement is taken from the top of the chassis to the control flat surface).

Phase 5. Set the parameters on your radio transmitter ensuring correct steering alignment, brake balance and throttle accuracy.
